Bei mir läuft Mandrake 10.0

Da ist Mozilla 1.6 dabei.
Das habe ich nun deinstalliert, Mozilla 1,7 gesaugt und nach der Readme installiert:

To install Mozilla by downloading the tar.gz file:

1. Create a directory named "mozilla" (mkdir mozilla)
and change to that directory (cd mozilla).

2. Click the link on the site you're downloading
Mozilla from to download the non-installer
(mozilla*.tar.gz) file into the mozilla directory.

3. Change to the mozilla directory (cd mozilla) and
decompress the file with the following command:

tar zxvf moz*.tar.gz

This creates a "mozilla" directory under your mozilla
directory.

4. Change to the mozilla directory (cd mozilla).

5. Run Mozilla with the following run script:

./mozilla

Ich habe das tar.gz File in das Verzeichniss
file:/home/a/Mozilla 1.7
gespeichert

Durch das Entpacken wurde dann ein Unterverzeichniss Mozilla erstellt.
Dort findet sich ein Icon Mozilla.
Wenn ich den Doppelklicke startet Mozilla.
Alle Bookmarks sind vorhanden.

Ist das so richtig, das Mozilla bei mir jetzt im Verzeichniss:
:/home/a/Mozilla 1.7/mozilla
liegt?

Weiter unten in der Readme wird erwähnt, das:
For example, the default directory that Mozilla suggests is
/usr/local/mozilla.

Also meine Frage:
Gibt es einen richtigen Weg Programme zu installieren, oder kann ich einfach in irgendein Verzeichniss entpacken?

Du machst es Dir schwerer als nötig. Der "richtige" Weg, unter Mandrake Software zu installieren, ist hier beschrieben.

Danach reicht ein "urpmi mozilla" (als root) aus, um die jeweils neuste Version von Mozilla zu downloaden und zu installieren.

schon angesurft und urpmi eingerichtet.

Jetzt habe ich
urpmi mozilla
als root eingegeben. Er hat nun mozilla-1.6-12 geladen.
Kann das sein, das die Quelle veraltet ist?.
Oder Mandrake nur mozilla 1.6 kennt?

Von folgender Quelle hat er gesaugt:
ftp://ftp.fh-giessen.de/pub/linux/Ma...12mdk.i586.rpm

Hallo!

Die Datenbank der installierten und verfügbaren Programmen läßt sich nun leicht mit dem im Startmenü (Configuration/Packaging) befindlichen "Software Media Manager" auf den neuesten Stand bringen.

Das habe ich allerdings nicht verstanden!
Ich war glaube ich im 'Software Media Manager', habe da aber nichts verstellt, weil ich der Meinung war, das ich ja bereits mit http://plf.zarb.org/%7Enanardon/ alles eingerichtet habe.

Cooker ist doch eine instabile Entwickler-Version ! ?

OK: Wie aktualisiere ich die Datenbanken?
Unter:
System, Einstellungen, Paketierung, Mandrake Aktualisierung
erhalte ich keine neuen Pakete.
Und unter 'Software installieren' wird nur Mozilla 1.6-12 angezeigt.

Den 'Software Media Manager' finde ich unter
System, Einstellungen, C
Configure your Computer
Dann 'Software verwalten'
Dann 'Medien-Manager'

Wenn ich da auf aktualisieren klicke, wird 'plf' und 'updates' aktualisiert.

Bei 'main' und contrib' kommt:
It is impossible to retrive the list of newpackages from the media 'main'
Either this update media is misconfigured, and in this case you should use the Software Media Manager to remove it and re-add it in order to reconfigure it, either it is currently unreachable and you should retry it later.

Ich habe bei 'Easy urpmi' bereits verschiedene Quellen geladen.
'Später' habe ich es auch versucht.
