Was hat man denn von dem normalen Release, außer dass man neuere Paketversionen hat? Ich kann iceweasel da schon nachvollziehen. Eine aktuelle nicht-LTS von Ubuntu, die gerade releast wurde, entspricht stark einem Debian testing/unstable, daher ist der Vergleich mit einer Beta-Version nicht ganz von der Hand zu weisen.

Also, wie gesagt, das war ja so oder so noch eine leere installation auf meiner 2. Partition. Mit meinem Mint würde ich sowas ohne Datensicherung nie machen. ^^

Wie ist denn das bei Linux Mint? So richtig LTS gibts da gar nicht oder? Man sagt zwar z.B. Mint 17.1 basiert auf *ubuntu 14.04 und hat daher LTS Status aber stimmt das denn? Oder gibts dann irgendwann nur unvollständig Updates weil die Updates aus den Ubunturepo's noch kommen und die aus den Mint Repo's nicht mehr.

Ja das hatte ich schon gelesen. Ich habe die Gruppen 4+5 freigegeben für Updates und bisher noch keine Probleme gehabt obwohl ich einen Proprietären Grafiktreiber nutze. Naja ich denke mal das ich ja dann doch LTS Support habe auf Mint 17.1.

Finds halt doch einfacher als Anfänger hier klarzukommen als bei eine *buntu Distri. Ist halt vieles für Windows Umsteiger optimiert. Vielleicht gefällt mir ja später, wenn ich ein wenig Zeit hatte mich an Linux zu gewöhnen, eine andere, nicht so vereinfachte Distri.

Linux Mint ist im Prinzip Ubuntu

Man kann z.B. das Paket "apt-show-versions" installieren und dann das Programm ausführen:

apt-show-versions
         

Mit etwas "grep" kann man rausfinden welche Pakete wirklich zu Ubuntu und welche zu Mint gehören. Da hat man dann ein Gefühl wie nah es noch an Ubuntu ist.

Naja das war eher drauf bezogen das in den Foren, wo überwiegend sogenannte Linux Fanboys ihr Unwesen treiben meist so sätze fallen wie "Wer will denn so eine Windowsähnliche Distri?" "Das hier ist Linux, Kein Windows" "Kannste ja gleich Windows benutzen!" usw.

Bin halt noch kein Experte in Sachen Linux und daher dankbar das es solche "zum Umstieg animierende" Distributionen wie Linux Mint gibt, die einem das Leben vereinfachen der in Sachen terminal usw. noch net so bewandert ist.

Okay, das heißt 1435 Pakete kommen von Ubuntu und 2146 von den Mintentwicklern ja?

Der erste zeigt "alle" Pakete an, der zweite Befehl nur die wo ein "ubuntu" in der Zeile vorkommt. D.h. 1435 deiner 2146 auf deinem System installierten Pakete tragen ein "ubuntu" in sich (67 %)

an. Oft sind die Unterschiede minimal. Du kannst Pakete (*.deb) downloaden und so entpacken:

und dann je nach Datei:

Wenn du nun vergleichst sind bei gleichen Versionen die Unterschiede meist gering. Der Vergleich ist zwar mühsam aber man kann viel dabei lernen über die Debian-Paketverwaltung.
Könnte sein, dass viele Unterschiede nur in der Datei "control" auftrauchen, da der Autor anders ist bzw. die Paketabhängigkeiten leicht abweichen.

Ubuntu finde ich gut, Mint besser, LMDE noch besser und am besten ist das Original: Debian.
Alleine die TLD ".org" ist schon erstrebenswerter als ".com".
