Hab jetzt beides mal gemacht. Die Frequenzen sind die konservativsten, die bei xf86config zur Auswahl standen.

Eine leichte Besserung ist eingetreten. Das Bild baut sich nun nach ein paar Gedenkminuten (oder sekunden, aber es dauert) unverzerrt auf, allerdings erstmal nur mein Top-Panel und ein paar Desktop-Symbole. Durch Mausbewegungen wird dann immer mehr vom Desktop sichtbar, und man kann sogar Menüeinträge auswählen (Sitzung beenden!). Trotzdem immer noch keine wirkliche Lösung.

Finde die andere Lösung irgendwie besser, wenn man nicht aus anderen Gründen gerade auf X angewiesen ist.

Ein weiteres Problem ist gestern aufgetaucht: MP3s über XMMS oder auch über mp3blaster ruckeln beim Abspielen. Hab gedacht, das liegt an der Festplatte, aber auch andere Einstellungen mit hdparm brachten keine Besserung. Auch das muss eigentlich klappen, denn unter Mandrake mit KDE gings vor einiger Zeit ohne Probleme. Abspielen über gemountetes Windows-Verzeichnis ruckelte ebenfalls.

Also mp3's sollten bei der Hardware eigentlich nicht ruckeln. Hab hier einen 266_P2 als Musikplayer (auch Gentoo+Alsa+VIA-OnboardSound) ohne Probleme.

Was für ein Chip ist denn da verbaut?

Und DMA ist sicher aktiviert?

Soundkarte: ESS Technology ES1938/ES1941/ES1946 (hab ich im Kernel mit drin)

Bei DMA zeigte mir "hdparm -i" immer an: *UDMA2 , also das UDMA2 aktiv ist. Lt. Datenblatt der Festplatte kann die aber UDMA4/66. Ich glaube aber nicht, dass es die Festplatte ist, denn beim Abspielen übers Netz tritt das Problem auch auf.

Die Alsa-Module werden beim Booten auch als [ok]angezeigt.

Mmmh, dein ACPI will nicht laufen. Hab allerdings im Moment keine richtige Idee mehr warum nicht.

APM ist aber deaktiviert im Kernel? Einfach wieder mit grep nachschauen.

BTW: Was unterscheidet denn "genkernel --menuconfig" so großartig vom manuellen Vorgehen mit "make menuconfig"?
